February
15-29
2 weeks, $25
Registration ends 14 February 2008
INSTRUCTOR: Kelley St. John (www.kelleystjohn.com)
CLASS DESCRIPTION:This 2-week course focuses first on pitching your work to an agent or editor, and then on pitching yourself (self-promoting with punch).
The first five days of the workshop will encompass the tips and tools Kelley St. John teaches in her Extreme Pitch Makeover Workshop. The remaining nine days will focus on promoting your work, starting first with promotions that work for pre-published authors, and then finishing with promotions that work for published authors.
This multi-purpose workshop covers:
- Four types of pitches. (GMC pitch, Cover Blurb pitch, High Concept pitch, Multi-hook pitch)
- Promotional tools for pre-published authors (including insight on contests, articles, conferences, web sites, promo items, workshops and blogs)
- Promotional tools for published authors. (including insight on contests, articles, conferences, web sites, workshops, blogs, print advertising, online advertising, sponsors, product placement, bulk promo items, book trailers, author newsletters, individual promo items, press kits, publisher-provided promo, utilizing your in-house publicist and agent-provided promo)
By the end of the course, you’ll be ready to face that agent or editor appointment with gusto – with your smile in place, your confidence soaring, and your final response ready: “Sure, I’ll be happy to send the full!” And when that’s done, you’ll be ready to promote that book to the masses, grow your future audience if you’re pre-published, or build on your existing audience if you’re published.
